The real reason for the timing of this year’s WWE Draft has now been revealed, courtesy of a new report.
As has become a staple of WWE’s yearly calendar, the WWE Draft will once again take place in 2024, with the two night event kicking off on the April 26 edition of SmackDown and concluding on the April 29 WWE Raw.
While the event has traditionally been staged in early to mid-Spring, we now have some backstage details regarding the decision to stage the 2024 Draft on the announced dates.
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, the timing of the WWE Draft is not coincidental – with the dates chosen to help coincide with the NFL draft.
WWE believe that their chosen dates will capitalise on “draft fever” as a result of the NFL, something that has also been a strategy in the past.
The new report on the WWE Draft also revealed that NXT will play a big role in this year’s event, with NXT stars moving to Raw and SmackDown and interestingly, main roster stars being moved down to NXT also.
