Last week saw a huge main event revealed for Extreme Rules with Kurt Angle confirming that a multi-man match would decide Brock Lesnar’s next opponent for the Universal Championship. Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley were the first participants to be confirmed and fans were hoping to learn more about who else would be involved during this week’s Raw.
As ever when Brock Lesnar is involved, nothing is set in stone and this was apparent again last night. Instead of shedding light on the match, Kurt Angle stated that the match would now no longer be taking place at the July event due to Lesnar ‘backing out of his commitment’.
Lesnar’s recent run has been epitomized by doing things in his own time and on his own terms so this news shouldn’t be a massive surprise to anybody. It remains to be seen if this is simply a ploy to draw more heat on ‘The Beast’s’ prizefighter persona or whether this actually means that Lensar won’t be defending the belt at SummerSlam after all.
Due to the Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, backing out of his commitment, I regretfully have to cancel the multi man match at Extreme Rules PPV. It’s a shame that our champion continues to disappoint.

The news understandably upset Reigns and Lashley who were already in a heated exchange and both requested a match against each other at Extreme Rules, an idea which Angle entertained.
This would undoubtedly be Lashley’s biggest match since his return but with himself and Reigns failing to captivate the majority of WWE’s fanbase, it could have the same result as Jinder vs. Roman which the crowd refused to get invested in.

Overall this week’s Raw left us in the same position as last week’s episode began; with absolutely no idea what is happening with the red brand’s main event scene at Extreme Rules.
