WWE star LA Knight has revealed that he told the company to fire him if he wasn’t getting over shortly after he signed with them.
Knight joined the NXT brand in 2021 where he had an eventful run, even winning the Million Dollar Championship that June.
While he was originally called up to the main roster in April 2022 as ‘Max Dupri’, it wasn’t until he dropped this name and returned to his LA Knight character that he exploded in popularity.
Speaking with Busted Open Radio’s Dave LaGreca, Knight noted that he told WWE to get him out of there if he wasn’t getting fan reactions after three months with the company.
Explaining why he did this, Knight said:
“When I first came back in 2021, I said, ‘Look, here’s the deal,’ I said, ‘If you feel like I’m not getting over after three months, get me out of there.’
“That’s how confident I was that just in a short amount of time.”
Many fans have called for WWE to capitalise on Knight’s popularity and put a title on the rising star.
Knight has now shared his honest thoughts on potentially winning WWE gold, which you can read more about right here.
