The Luke Littler effect is real and has now even made its way to legendary WWE star and Hollywood actor John Cena.
Littler has made headlines worldwide in the past month throughout, and since, his run at the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship.
At just 16 years old, Littler made it all the way to the final before eventually losing out to world rank #1 28-year-old Luke Humphries.
Despite being the runner-up, Littler’s heroics caught fire as he became the first darts player to reach a million followers on Instagram, which is over twice as many as Michael Van Gerwen in second place at around 450,000.
Shortly after the tournament was over, Littler was interviewed on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, during which he said that his choice of walk-on music – Greenlight by Pitbull – was inspired by it being the theme for WrestleMania 33, which he attended when he was 10 years old.
After that revelation, WWE offered him a visit to a live event in London on April 19 – an invitation that Littler accepted.
In his tweet accepting the offer, Littler attached a video of him as a young child in his bedroom imitating John Cena.
Today (January 10), Cena himself acknowledged the teenage sensation with a trademark un-captioned post on his Instagram, as you can see below:
