Following the 11 WWE departures reported earlier this month, there is yet another star who is gone from the company.
Of those 11 departures, 10 were releases and one was a contract expiration, with another contract expiration now being revealed.
As reported by PWN and Fightful Select, Carmella’s WWE contract expired recently.
Carmella had been absent from WWE since March 2023 when she took time away due to pregnancy.
After giving birth the following November, Carmella has spoken about health issues that arose during the process that she’s had to deal with.
She is a former SmackDown Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, and also won the 24/7 Championship four times.
She started with WWE in NXT in 2013, debuting on TV in late 2014 as an ally of Enzo Amore and Big Cass.
Amore and Cass were called up to Raw without Carmella, but soon after, she was called up to SmackDown.
She soon formed an alliance with James Ellsworth, who helped her become the first ever women’s Money in the Bank winner in 2017.
Almost a year later in April 2018, she cashed in the contract to become SmackDown Women’s Champion, dethroning Charlotte Flair.
She held the title for a total of 130 days before Flair won it back in a three-way match against Carmella and Becky Lynch at SummerSlam.
In November 2021, she became Women’s Tag Team Champion with Zelina Vega, holding the title for 132 days.
Carmella was set to team with Chelsea Green just before she took time out due to her pregnancy, and was replaced in that team for a match at WrestleMania 39 by Sonya Deville.
Deville was informed by WWE earlier this month that her contract wasn’t being renewed when it expires soon.
