WWE has set up a new championship match for WrestleMania 40 weekend on tonight’s episode of NXT between three big men.
In an in-ring segment on tonight’s WWE NXT, a new championship match for NXT Stand & Deliver was teased.
Stand & Deliver takes place on Saturday, April 6 earlier in the day before WrestleMania night one.
After a backstage segment featured NXT North American Champion Oba Femi clearly making his way to the ring, instead Josh Briggs got a segment kicked off by emerging through the crowd.
Briggs called out Femi after Femi laid out Briggs’ former partner Brooks Jensen, vowing to take on Femi for the North American title.
However this would not only bring out the champ, but also Dijak who interrupted the pair to make his intentions for the title known.
With both Josh Briggs and Dijak with their sights set on Oba Femi and the NXT North American Championship, it isn’t clear which direction the match will take.
While there are still two episodes of NXT (March 26 and April 2) before WrestleMania and NXT Stand & Deliver, it’s possible there could be a match between Briggs and Dijak to see who will face Femi.
However given the way the segment was positioned, it certainly seemed that fans could be headed for triple threat of meaty men slapping meat at NXT Stand & Deliver.
Or as Vic Joseph put it on commentary, ‘athletic heavyweights’ when describing the formidable trio in the ring.
UPDATE: Later in the show, it was announced that next week, Josh Briggs will face Duke Hudson, and Dijak will face Shawn Spears next week, in matches that will seemingly determine Oba Femi’s Stand & Deliver opponents.
Elsewhere on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, Roxanne Perez got her wish as Ava made a big championship match for Stand & Deliver on WrestleMania weekend.
