WWE Official Comments On Recent Releases WWE

A large part of WWE’s reasoning behind their most recent main roster talent releases looks to have been confirmed.

Writing in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed the roster cuts, many of whom were talent not featured regularly on WWE TV, especially not on main roster shows.

Meltzer wrote that the inactivity of many of the stars in question on main roster programming, with others only being used regularly in NXT instead despite being on main roster money, was seemingly the deciding factor on those chosen to be cut.

He wrote:

The key to the releases were talent making main roster money but not being used on the main roster and with the idea that they were not going to be used in the future.

“It’s time in vs. how much money you are paid vs. return on investment,” said one WWE official regarding the talent cuts.

Among the main roster stars cut, only two had consistently been appearing on WWE TV lately, those being Mustafa Ali and Dana Brooke, and they were two examples of talents who had been moved to NXT, so the above reasoning does apply.

Others including Dolph Ziggler and Elias obviously hadn’t been moved to NXT, but weren’t being used on the main roster either.

Of course, that wasn’t the case for all of the releases, including the likes of Brooklyn Barlow and Bryson Montana who were Performance Center recruits who hadn’t really graduated to NXT TV.

One of the stars cut from NXT was reported to have “caused all kinds of issues” behind the scenes in the company according to new information in the wake of the releases – to read more on this in particular click here.
