Former WWE star Carmella has revealed her scrapped pitch for plans with SmackDown’s Pretty Deadly, prior to her departure.
Previously, Elton Prince and Kit Wilson have been trying to get backing for Pretty Deadly: The Musical with less-than-successful results.
In November 2024, Pretty Deadly would even confront the creator of the musical Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, presenting him with an opportunity to back the project, as can be seen below this news story.
Carmella has now revealed that she could have been involved in Pretty Deadly: The Musical, having pitched her role to Prince, Wilson and the head writer.
Speaking to the New York Post, the former WWE star revealed how the conversation came about, stating she likes being involved with characters, saying:
“I pitched to work with Pretty Deadly. I reached out to them first, and they loved the idea. They were all on board.
“We came up with ideas, pitches, and storylines. That’s when I was talking to the head writer about these ideas that we had.
“They were doing a musical at the time. They were pitching this musical. It was going to bomb, and then I was going to show up, and I was so excited.
“I feel like it was a perfect mesh of all of our characters. I love working with characters. R-Truth. James Ellsworth. The more ridiculous, the better. They are so all about their character that I feel it would have worked so well.”
She would go on to consider the idea of being part of a musical, calling the idea of a WWE version “ridiculous” but a good fit for her character, explaining:
“Everyone was on board and really liked it. Who knows, maybe someday in the future.
“When I was talking with the writer, we were like, ‘Maybe I will be part of the musical. I’ve always wanted to be on Broadway. Can I be in the musical?’’He’s like, ‘Maybe. I don’t know with the filming if it will work out timing-wise.’
“The ideas we were coming up with were insane, but to be part of a WWE musical, that would have been ridiculous, but Carmella would have thrived.”
Having parted ways with WWE in February 2025 following her contract expiring, Carmella would also share her hopes for a return.
Carmella was absent from WWE since March 2023 having taken time away from the company due to pregnancy.
The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion previously noted that she had been dealing with drop foot, a post-pregnancy complication after giving birth in November 2023.
