Real Reason Vince McMahon Scrapped Seth Rollins Open Challenge On WWE Raw WWE

The real reason Vince McMahon scrapped the planned Seth Rollins open challenge for last night’s June 19 WWE Raw has been revealed.

Following the previously reported news that Vince McMahon had made changes to tonight’s Raw from Cleveland, Ohio (remotely, he wasn’t at the show), further details of why Seth Rollins’ original segment was cancelled.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed the logic behind the late decision, saying:

“The open challenge was supposed to happen till the last minute. Vince changed… the first 30 minutes of the show, I heard, was totally changed.

“Vince really wanted this… the whole Seth Rollins angle with Finn Balor, I think he just wanted something big, something bigger for Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, just to heat up Finn Balor.

“To be fair, I know people who are there who told me, ‘Look, as far as the 30 minutes that Vince put in, it was better than the 30 minutes that was taken out’.”

As can be seen in the video below this news story, Balor attacked Rollins as Rollins was entering the ring to issue the open challenge at the start of the show, injuring Rollins enough for the open challenge to be cancelled.

Rollins is still set to appear on the June 20 episode of WWE NXT, facing Bron Breakker, with the two-time NXT Champion appearing on Raw and promising to “shock the world.”

The June 19 episode of WWE Raw saw the much-anticipated return of Tommaso Ciampa.

It was also revealed that Logan Paul will be in the men’s WWE Money in the Bank ladder match at The O2 in London, England on July 1, 2023.

Former AEW star Big Swole took issue with the booking of her husband, Cedric Alexander, on last night’s show.
