Released WWE Star Wins First Championship In Eight Years WWE

A former WWE star has won their first piece of championship gold in eight years, following their September 2023 release from the company.

Just six weeks into his big 2024 World Tour Campaign, Mustafa Ali has won his first title post-WWE – capturing the Dreamwave Alternative Championship by defeating El Hijo Del Vikingo, Penta El Zero Miedo and Gringo Loco.

In a post on Twitter celebrating the big win, Ali said:

last night at @DWWrestling, four of the best went into battle. but the people rallied behind a prince and made him king.

Ali’s capturing of the Dreamwave Alternative Championship is his first title win in eight years, having amazingly never captured gold during his seven year stint in WWE.

It’s also notable as the very same title was one Ali held prior to moving to WWE in late 2016, under the name Prince Mustafa Ali, as he references in his tweet.

Ali’s extensive history with the promotion dates back to 2009, capturing the Dreamwave World Championship on one occasion and holding it for an impressive 238 days.

Coming up soon on Ali’s exciting indy run is a stop at TNA Wrestling, with a big Championship match announced at the company’s No Surrender pay-per-vew on February 23.
