An AEW star has teased a champion vs champion match, with a recently debuting name saying they’ve wanted this match for quite some time.
Previously known as Sarray in WWE, Sareee recently made her Ring of Honor debut, teaming with Alex Windsor to take on Billie Starkz and Diamante.
While Sareee will be defending her IWGP Women’s Championship against Windsor in ROH, the Japanese star has her sights set on a future match.
Following the debut of Sareee in Ring of Honor, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena shared an emoji-heavy reaction on Twitter, posting:
“👿☠️👿☠️….
“🤔🤔🤔….”
The post would catch the attention of Sareee, who revealed that she has wanted a match against the ROH star for quite some time, replying:
“I wanted a match since the first time I met you…🔥🌞”
Although Sareee wouldn’t specify when they first met, the former Sarray and Ember Moon were both on the WWE roster between 2020 and 2021.
Moon would be released by WWE in November of 2021, making her AEW as Athena in May of the following year.
In Ring of Honor, Athena has surpassed 1,000 days as ROH Women’s World Champion, having defeated Mercedes Martinez at Final Battle in December 2022.
Sarray would have last WWE match in August 2022, leaving the company the following March and heading back to the Japanese wrestling scene.
