WWE Name Competes In Bodybuilding Competition WWE

WWE producer Shawn Daivari recently competed in the NPC Ace of Stage Championships and certainly looked impressive.

The NPC Age of Stage Championships took place on September 23, 2023, with Daivari taking part in the Men’s Physique competition.

According to the official NPC website:

“The National Physique Committee is the premier amateur physique organization in the world. Since 1982, the top athletes in bodybuilding, fitness, figure, bikini and physique have started their careers in the NPC.

“Many of those athletes graduated to successful careers in the IFBB Professional League, a list that includes 25 Olympia and 40 Arnold Classic winners.”

While Daivari didn’t win the category, the photos from the event (one of which can be seen below, courtesy of the NPC website) show the conditioning of the 39-year-old who placed second in the Men’s Physique Novice B category and the Masters (35+) category.

He would win the Open Class B category in which he was the only competitor.

The judging criteria for the Men’s Physique category is extension, but includes the following:

1. Muscularity and Body Condition
Judges will be looking for fit contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity should be marked down.

2. Stage Presence and Personality
Contestants will be asked to walk in board shorts (shorts must be just above the knee in length and can be one inch below the belly button, no spandex and no logos are permitted on the board shorts however a manufacturer’s logo such as Nike symbol or Billabongs are acceptable.) Competitors will enter the stage without a shirt and barefoot. No lewd acts allowed for example the moon pose. No Gymnastics Moves are Allowed. Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.

Daivari has had quite a career across the wrestling scene including runs in TNA, ROH and Lucha Underground.

He initially signed with WWE in August 2004 but would be released in October 2007.

He would return to the company, outside of some dark match appearances, in 2018 and was hired as a producer in January 2019.

A COVID-19 cuts related release in April 2020 wouldn’t be his last run with the company as he would go on to be rehired in June 2021.
