WWE has gone on a shopping-spree of the independent scene of late, snapping up the likes of ACH, DJ Z and Trevor Lee. Well, the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the company have signed another two of the top independent stars to the developmental deals.
It has been reported that Garza Jr. and Shane Strickland have both signed contracts with the promotion and will be reporting to the Performance Center after WrestleMania in early April.
Strickland is an exciting prospect, making his wrestling debut in 2011 before being signed to EVOLVE the following year, for whom he is best known for working for. Strickland has won the EVOLVE Championship before, defeating none other than NXT’s Matt Riddle to capture the gold.
Garza Jr. is a more interesting one, the former Impact star signed a contract with WWE last year, but it fell through after a medical revealed shoulder issues. This was controversial, with MLW accusing the 26-year-old of missing TV tapings to meet with the company’s negotiators.
Garza Jr. and Shane Strickland are the latest in a long list of immense talent to be signed to WWE. The company is obviously trying to snap up a lot of the independent scene’s best workers, most likely to prevent them from joining All Elite Wrestling, or other independent promotions for that matter.
