WWE has officially confirmed a time change coming up for SmackDown starting at the beginning of the new year.
In mid-2025, SmackDown’s runtime was changed back to two hours each week after being moved to three hours at the start of 2025.
After several months of two-hour SmackDowns, another change has been confirmed.
As officially announced during tonight’s December 12 episode of WWE SmackDown in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, SmackDown will be going back to three hours soon.
Michael Cole made the announcement and confirmed it’ll be January 2 that kicks off SmackDown’s run of being three hours each week once again.
That episode of SmackDown takes place at the Keybank Center in Buffalo, New York.
It’s been noted that something that may affect SmackDown’s runtime is if WWE produces any more new programming for USA Network in addition to SmackDown that can air in the ‘third hour.’
For example, the Everything On The Menu with Braun Strowman show aired directly after SmackDown for the past few weeks.
Now that show has finished, SmackDown is going back to three hours to fill that third hour, so if another new show is created somewhere down the line, SmackDown could go back to being two hours, with the third hour filled by whatever that new show would be.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
