A WWE announcer has commented on their glaring absence from WWE Crown Jewel 2023.
As fans will have undoubtedly noticed there has been a surprising change in the WWE announcer line-up in Riyadh for Crown Jewel 2023.
That is that typical WWE TV ring announcers Samantha Irvin and Mike Rome have been replaced for the night by backstage interviewer Byron Saxton.
While its unclear why this change was made, Irvin has commented on the change and she’s got nothing but kind words and high praise for Saxton’s performance on the night thus far.
Taking to Twitter, Irvin said:
Byron sounding like my childhood lowkey 🔥
Irvin is not the only one impressed as the reaction on social media has already been a largely positive one on Saxton’s performance.
Irvin has also recently been substituted on Raw by NXT’s Alicia Taylor, who has also filled in for SmackDown’s Mike Rome.
As of right now it’s unclear why this has been the case, however, Saxton is at least no stranger to the role, albeit not on WWE TV.
Saxton has been known to fulfil the role of ring announcer at WWE live events and does carry experience doing the same during his earlier years on NXT.
