Popular WWE Star Says A Match With The Undertaker At WrestleMania 32 Was ‘Heavily Discussed’ WWE

Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens says a match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 was “heavily discussed.”

At WrestleMania 32, Kevin Owens opened the show as he defended the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match against Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona), Dolph Ziggler (Nic Nemeth), The Miz, Sin Cara, Sami Zayn and Stardust (Cody Rhodes).

Meanwhile, The Undertaker went one-on-one with Shane McMahon in a Hell In A Cell Match.

Speaking with Joe Baiamonte of WrestleSphere, Kevin Owens revealed that the idea of him facing The Undertaker was discussed ahead of WrestleMania 32. He said:

“I think things just shifted and that was the year that Shane McMahon returned, so obviously at the time, my standing in the company compared to Shane McMahon coming back after all those years, the thought was probably ‘Shane McMahon versus The Undertaker is a huge match.”

“I know it was on the table and it was heavily discussed and it would have been amazing.”

“My first WrestleMania, to be in there with The Undertaker, would have been sweet. It didn’t happen, but I’ve been in the ring with him.”

“I was actually in the ring with him in the main event of a Madison Square Garden show, so I got to do that with him which was really cool,”

WrestleMania 32 marked Kevin Owens’ first appearance at the Showcase of the Immortals, but it definitely wasn’t his last.

Since then, Owens has had many memorable bouts at Mania, including his headline match against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38 and defeating The Usos alongside Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 39.

Kevin Owens will be making yet another appearance at the Show of Shows when he faces Logan Paul and Randy Orton in a triple threat for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 40.
