WWE Star Says He Was Planned To Work With Bray Wyatt At WrestleMania 39 WWE

Former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt unexpectedly passed away on August 24, 2023.

Wyatt had been off television for six months due to an illness, with him seemingly on course to face off with Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39.

However, another WWE star has now said that he was also supposed to do something with Wyatt at this year’s WrestleMania event.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Karrion Kross discussed his relationship with Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda), and how they spoke on and off going back to Kross’ days on the independents.

He said:

“Windham and I were talking on and off for a long time. When I was an extra in WWE he would always talk backstage. It’d never be about wrestling, it’d be about horror movies or tattoos or music… We weren’t ‘friends’ but he was very warm to me.

“And I think it was about 2018 or 2019 he reached out to me like ‘We need to dance.’ And I was like ‘Alright.’ I was blown away that somebody that I look up to as a performer is talking to me. Indie Killer Kross who hasn’t made a name yet or drawn any money.

“As we got closer to that time, I ended up getting on board with NXT. We do the entrance, suplex Leon Ruff on his head a couple of times [and] choke him. And he reaches out again and he’s like ‘It’s going to be me and you at WrestleMania one day.’ I always thought — I just always thought him and I were going to do this in a different capacity. Oh my God, I’m getting upset.”

Kross then revealed that he and Wyatt were supposed to work together at WrestleMania, and that plans had been made for him, Bray, Bo Dallas (who portrayed Uncle Howdy), Scarlett and Alexa Bliss.

He added:

“Fast forward, we were supposed to work last WrestleMania. Nobody knew that, except for a collection of writers and some people in the office. We were slated to do something. We would talk for hours about how we wanted to get into it, what we wanted to deliver creatively for people. Where we thought we both needed to be. We had ideas for Alexa [Bliss], Bo [Dallas], Scarlett, and then everything happened the way it did.”

Kross finished off by discussing Wyatt’s legacy, and the mark he left on the wrestling world.

He said:

“He left a mark on everybody and anybody he ever met. It’s just very strange, the way, everything played out. Beautiful and tragic, and he was an inspiration to me. [He] always showed me warmth, he showed everybody warmth. I have more stories than we have time to share, but we were cool.”

Bray Wyatt passed away on August 24, 2023, at the age of 36.

WWE has added the following note to the item descriptions for Wyatt merch on the WWE Shop website:

In the wake of Bray Wyatt’s death, WWE will donate all net proceeds to support JoJo Offerman and his children.

On Thursday, August 24, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported:

I was given permission to reveal that earlier this year Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) got COVID that exacerbated a heart issues.

There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery. Unfortunately today he suffered a heart attack and passed away.

Our thoughts and condolences continue to be with the family, friends, and everyone affected by the passing of Windham Rotunda.
