Luke Harper took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that he had asked for his WWE release. This was followed up by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer who said that whilst Harper had asked for his release, it had not yet been granted by WWE.
Whilst Harper has not had his release granted as of yet, many WWE stars have taken to social media to praise the former Intercontinental Champion, and wish him well in the future. For example, fellow former NXT star Aleister Black took to Twitter to said that Harper was “so goddamn talented”, before wishing him luck for the future.

New Day’s Xavier Woods also replied to Harper’s statement by referencing the fact the pair were in developmental together, adding that the former Smackdown Tag Team Champion was “a good dude with a good heart”.
A good dude with a good heart. Even thought you tried to blind me that one time in developmental you've always got a friend in me (no Toy Story) pic.twitter.com/Q8tmOAJcpm

However, it should be noted that Dave Meltzer has also said that Harper’s contract is due to expire in November 2019, but added that it was possible that WWE could freeze his contract for six months, as this is the amount of time he was out injured for, meaning he would not be able to leave until April 2020.
