John Cena ended an unfortunate five-year streak with his tag-team victory at Fastlane 2023.
During the October 7 premium live event, Cena teamed with LA Knight to defeat Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.
While this was a big moment for Knight, who has experienced a drastic rise in popularity in recent months, this win also marked a significant moment for John Cena.
This Fastlane victory was actually Cena’s first win at a WWE premium live event since October 2018’s Super Showdown in Australia, where he teamed with Bobby Lashley to take on Kevin Owens and Elias.
Since then, Cena has suffered losses to The Fiend at WrestleMania 36, Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021, and Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39 earlier this year.
It has been even longer since Cena last won a singles match on WWE TV, with his most recent one-on-one victory coming in his match against Triple H at the April 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble event.
Triple H has now thanked Cena for his work during his current WWE run, sharing a message for fans regarding Cena’s in-ring future.
