Former WWE Star Reveals ‘I F*cking Hate It’ Reaction From Dusty Rhodes WWE

Dusty Rhodes was already a legend in the business before he came to WWE NXT and guided the careers of many WWE NXT stars as its producer.

The care that Rhodes showed for the WWE stars under his wing has been spoken about many times before and Summer Rae has now revealed a moment with The American Dream.

In a Q&A session with Golden Ring Collectibles, Summer Rae was discussing her chose of ring name.

Rae stated that wrestlers submit a list of names to WWE’s corporate office and then a ‘higher up’ pick the best name (or the one that they like).

When her choices were returned, Rae recounted:

“Mine came back and I said I wanted the name ‘Kyle,’ like a boy’s name.

“I didn’t say Summer and they just put ‘Kylie Summers’ as my name.”

Dusty was, however, not impressed with the name that Summer Rae had been given, with Rae saying:

“And Dusty Rhodes said, ‘What the hell is a Kylie Summers?’ He’s like, ‘I f*cking hate it.’

“In front of everyone, he made me stand up in front of the class and was like, ‘Tell them what they named you, it’s bullsh*t.'”

Dusty Rhodes would remind Rae that her WWE name is “going to be with you for the rest of your life”.

Summer Rae would also give an insight into Rhodes’ naming conventions, saying:

“And he wanted everything one or two syllables so when people chant your name it’s not anything crazy.”

She would also reveal that Rhodes wanted Summer to have a last name starting with the letter R as he believed that a wrestler would have the last letter of their first name match the first letter of the last.

This, he felt, helped the name roll off the announcer’s tongue easily.

Dusty Rhodes passed away on June 11 2015 at the age of 69.
