WWE has now officially announced a grudge match for the WWE SummerSlam 2023 premium live event.
The card for the August 5 event in Detroit, Michigan is already stacked, with several major matches fuelling speculation about the show.
WWE has now officially added one more bout to the line-up, confirming that Ronda Rousey will battle Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam.
WWE took to X (Twitter) with a graphic for the bout, writing:
BREAKING: Former friends, allies, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions @RondaRousey and @QoSBaszler will battle at #SummerSlam.
This comes after Baszler attacked Rousey during their Women’s Tag Team Championship defence at Money in the Bank, leading to Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriquez pinning Rousey to claim the gold.
The duo have confronted each other on more recent episodes of Raw, with Rousey and Baszler agreeing to ‘fight’ on Monday’s (July 24) show.
Rousey and Baszler both competed in the UFC prior to joining WWE, with Rousey, Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke previously touted as the Four Horsewomen of MMA.
Other major matches announced for SummerSlam include the Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso Tribal Combat bout, Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship.
