WWE To Offer Legend One More Match?

WWE To Offer Legend One More Match?

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE could be ready to offer Stone Cold Steve Austin a massive payday for one last match.

With the Rock already interested in a return at WrestleMania 35, the journalist is reporting that the original idea was to offer the ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ a whopping $10,000,000 for a fight and to spike Network subscriptions. However, there is a flaw in that plan as Dave explained:

“I don’t think Austin wants to wrestle and I don’t think they want Austin to wrestle so bad right now because he couldn’t get medically cleared.”

With the deal to take Smackdown Live to Fox in 2019 bringing in a healthy $1billion, WWE can certainly afford to shell out that sum, however, the question has to be asked if it would be a wise investment. Not only would they struggle to get Austin cleared for a return, but he’s been out of action now for fifteen years and would not be able to perform at the same level he once did.

A homecoming for the star has been mooted for countless years now, with him once saying that should he return then he’d want his last match to be against CM Punk. With that out of the question, and Austin happy with his life, it’s hard to see him accepting an offer even if one was made.

Would you like to see Stone Cole return for one last match, or do you believe that he’s better off staying away and not potentially ruining a legacy with one mistimed performance?
