AEW Star Doesn’t Think Cody Rhodes Will Beat Roman Reigns At WrestleMania 40 WWE

AEW’s Thunder Rosa has revealed the reason she doesn’t think Cody Rhodes will finish the story against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27, meaning he’ll receive a championship match at Mania in April.

According to Thunder Rosa, she believes that Reigns is going to be a champion for even longer, breaking Hulk Hogan’s 1,474 day reign as WWF Champion.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Thunder Rosa gave her reasoning against a Rhodes win, saying:

“I personally don’t think they’re gonna put the title Roman Reigns has on Cody. I think they want to break Hulk Hogan’s reign.”

Reigns has held the WWE Universal Champion for 1,249 days at the time of writing, defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in 2022 to hold both the Universal Championship and WWE Championship.

Thunder Rosa would go on to discuss how Reigns is being built as an ‘untouchable champion’ with Bruno Sammartino holding the then-WWWF World Heavyweight Championship for 2,803 days.

As for Rhodes picking his opponent for WrestleMania 40, Thunder Rosa shared her take on that, stating:

“I think it would be kind of risky for Cody to pick Roman. And I know everybody wants that, but a title is a title. And he can make his own history with this title.”

Co-host Tommy Dreamer would agree with Thunder Rosa, going on to say that he doesn’t see Reigns or Rhodes losing their respective matches at WrestleMania 40.

Although Seth Rollins has tried to convince Rhodes to face him at the upcoming event, it was recently reported that Reigns vs Rhodes is still on the cards despite The Rock also being an option.

The Rock has recently spoken about a possible match with Reigns, stating that “we’re figuring it out”.

Speaking about the challenge from Rollins, Dreamer also noted that Rhodes has been victorious over the WWE Heavyweight Champion three times so far and see no reason why Rhodes would believe he wouldn’t be in line for a fourth victory.
