Yes, it really seems that WWE President Vince McMahon, who is currently 76-years-old, is preparing to have some kind of match at WrestleMania 38 against SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee.
Of course the idea of 76-year-old Vince getting back in the ring for a full match is horrifying to many people, so surely they’re going to find a way to book around his mobility issues.
While I would still bet on Vince to be able to beat up anyone’s grandpa, the Wrestling Observer is reporting “it will be complete smoke and mirrors event”.
What that means isn’t completely clear, but we’re in the age of cinematic matches and ridiculously dangerous looking but very safe bumps off buildings, so surely there’ll be plenty of that going on.
You probably shouldn’t expect a 20 minute classic during which both men show off their in-ring brilliance, but perhaps we’ll at least see Vince take a bump, or throw McAfee off something.
The match joins a planned card which already features non-wrestlers such as Johnny Knoxville and Logan Paul, so who knows what other celebrity names could be joining the card.
Personally, I’m hoping for the return of Snooki.
Vince McMahon is a playable character in the upcoming WWE 2K22 game. You can check out the full playable roster here.
