Jay Lethal has won his second ROH World Championship by defeating Cody, Matt Taven, and former champion Dalton Castle in a fatal four-way match at Saturday’s Ring of Honor TV tapings.
Castle held the ROH World Championship for 198 days after defeating Cody at Final Battle 2017. Castle’s title reign had its fair share of problems as he dealt with a large amount of injuries throughout 2018. The most serious being his reported back fracture and nerve damage.
Many people expected Castle to lose the title at Best in the World on Friday night to either Cody or Marty Scurll but there was a shock when he retained the title yet again.
Lethal is now a two-time ROH World Champion with his first reign lasting from Best in the World 2015 until Death Before Dishonor XIV in August 2016. Lethal most recently defeated New Japan Pro Wrestling star KUSHIDA at Best in the World on Friday. Lethal is now set up to defend his newly won championship against his old rival Cody leading up to the Bullet Club promoted show ALL IN on September 1.
The title match can be viewed on the Honor Club streaming service.
