Though it is only rumor right now, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Cagesideseats.com are reporting that Matt Riddle could replace an injured Aleister Black in the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV main event.
Due to battle Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa for the NXT Championship, Black is not expected to be fit for the brawl after tearing his groin on an NXT live event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Recovery time for such a surgery is three weeks minimum.
Indie darling Riddle has been reported to have signed a three year deal with WWE, even losing his final championship at Evolve 108 in order to free him of any commitments. He was expected to make his WWE debut at Brooklyn in the usual audience segment, but now, just like Adam Cole before him, could make an even bigger impact on his first night with the company.
WrestleTalk will keep you up to date on any further developments.
Come and join the conversation on Twitter and Discord today. Would you like to see Matt Riddle replace Aleister Black in the main event? Would you even like to see him capture the NXT Championship on his first night in the company? Or would you prefer, in Black’s absence, we saw a third outing between Gargano and Ciampa?
