The third night of New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s Road to Destruction tour has taken place as we draw closer to the Destruction events.
Road to Destruction Night Three continued the build towards the three Destruction events with the main event featuring the men who will main event Destruction in Kobe, Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Destruction in Hiroshima will be main-evented by Kenny Omega defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Tomohiro Ishii in a rematch of their classic G1 Climax encounter. Destruction in Beppu will feature a main event of Tetsuya Naito vs. Minoru Suzuki, and Destruction in Kobe will conclude the events with the main event of Kazuchika Okada challenging Hiroshi Tanahashi for Tanahashi’s Tokyo Dome IWGP Heavyweight Championship Challenge Rights Certificate.
The main takeaways from the show are that while Ishii’s team managed to defeat Omega’s and Tanahashi’s team defeated Okada’s, the actual pinfalls did not involve the main stars. The Ishii match saw Toru Yano pin Yujiro Takahashi with a rollup and the main event finish was Juice Robinson hitting a Pulp Friction on Beretta for the win.
The results of Road to Destruction Night Three are:
Yuya Uemura & Shota Umino d. Ren Narita & Yota Tsuji
Chase Owens d. Ayato Yoshida
Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Bad Luck Fale, and Taiji Ishimori d. Togi Makabe, Michael Elgin, David Finlay, and Toa Henare
