This week on 205 Live, we saw an incredible matchup for the WWE Cruiserweight Title between current champion Cedric Alexander and his SummerSlam opponent Drew Gulak. The bout was full of unique and breathtaking spots while telling a brilliant story. As an avid viewer of the purple brand, I’m pretty sure I write a sentence like that each and every week.
As it turns out, I’m not the only one constantly blown-away by the cruiserweights – despite how it feels when bringing it up to my friends and colleagues – as WWE veteran Shelton Benjamin recently took to Twitter to show his love for not just the match but 205 Live as a whole.
I see stuff like this and it stuns me how many people are are sleeping on the jaw dropping matches happening every week on @WWE205Live https://t.co/eXU8GuejTL

What Benjamin is referring to by “sleeping on” is that 205 Live consistently sits at around ninth on the most watch WWE Network shows of the week list. For a weekly WWE wrestling show, that’s not exactly a positive position. To put that into context, it regularly falls behind old pay-per-views, odd episodes of Ride Along, and podcasts.
The cruiserweight division is filled to the brim with talent and utilizes the one-hour slot to perfection with a ‘quality over quantity’ mentality that sees matches receive the time they deserve to develop. With only one title on the show, they also do incredibly well to give meaning to everything not revolving around the top prize.
