Mae Young Classic 2018 competitor Nicole Matthews has been banned from entering the USA for five years after it was found that she worked US wrestling shows without a work VISA.
Writing in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted “Nicole Matthews, who just worked the Mae Young Classic, had issues coming across the border recently and is now like Mike Bailey, where she is banned from coming to the U.S. for five years.”
For those of you know don’t know who Mike Bailey, also known as Mike Sydal and Speedball, is, he is also a Canadian professional wrestler who found himself banned from working US promotions for five years in 2016, after it was found he was working without a VISA.
Matthews made it to the second round of the Mae Young Classic, where she was defeated by Tegan Nox. Unfortunately this news means she won’t be appearing in any MYC’s in the next five years, but hopefully this doesn’t spell the end of her career.
Unfortunately the US has an incredibly strict VISA policy, and if you’re unlucky enough to get caught, the punishments are severe.
