The most notable story coming out of Super Showdown was not the Brothers of Destruction attacking Shawn Michaels and Triple H, Buddy Murphy’s sensational Cruiserweight Title win or Dean Ambrose proving his loyalty to the Shield.
It was John Cena’s hair.
Big Match John, wrestling his first televised match since Greatest Royal Rumble, had allowed his hair to grow out since the last time he was seen on television. Rather than his trademark crew cut, Cena was sporting a choir boy parting that made him look the spitting image of the man who coined the nickname ‘Big Match John’, one JBL.
Cena even referenced the similarities in a post-show tweet:
Thank you 🇦🇺 #WWESSD @WWE @WWEUniverse for an amazing evening. Thank you @JCLayfield for the grooming tips. Thank you 🇨🇳 @EyeOfJackieChan for the 👊⚡️!

By embracing the mocking himself, Cena left his hairstyle open to ridicule from others.
Elias, one of Cena’s opponents at Super Show-Down, wasted little time getting in on the act, blaming Cena’s distracting new hair as the reason for losing at the Aussie supercard:
.@IAmEliasWWE has a perfectly reasonable explanation on why he lost to @JohnCena at #WWESSD. #Raw pic.twitter.com/PPCjCfPGvq

Cena has been confirmed as a participant in the World Cup at Crown Jewel. Let’s hope he either gets a haircut before then or starts using the Clothesline From Hell as his SEVENTH move of doom.
