Just last week Dana Brooke squared off against former UFC star Ronda Rousey, challenging for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. However, she has revealed on Lillian Garcia’s podcast that just one month prior she nearly quit the company.
When the former NXT star’s match with Natalya was cancelled, she said she felt like she should quit, but then thought better of it:
”When I was told that ‘your match isn’t happening,’ at that point in time I was just like ‘No. This place does not define me. I am stronger than this. I wanna go to prove to the world that you can’t keep me down.’ I said ‘You know something, if I quit now, what kind of example am I gonna be for everyone that’s followed me. Who’s supported me. Who’s been my backbonethrough the hardest time’, I cannot give up now.”
It is unclear if Brooke aired her frustrations with the company. However, if she did, this might explain why she received her championship match with Ronda Rousey last week. However, in the match she acted as nothing more than a punching bag for Rousey who is clearly focused on defending her title against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in the main event of WrestleMania.
