It was reported this past week that Jim Ross signed with AEW in what is being called the “most lucrative deal in commentary history”.
The legendary WWE commentator revealed AEW’s exciting TV plans while on WFAN with Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott:
“It’s overwhelming for me. You know, to be 67 years old and be anointed the voice of a brand that’s gonna be debuting in October on national television on a major cable network, which can’t be named now, but I can tell you it’s very exciting. And when people hear what network we’re going on, they’re gonna be doubly excited, because it’s a network we can all find… I think what they’re shooting for is a more athletic presentation. It will less be – hopefully be less eye rolling than the sophomore drama class trying to convince you in a 10 minute promo that – of anything they’re saying. It’s too long. Our audiences can’t handle that. So
AEW’s executives have given very little away with regards to the promotion’s television plans, but JR has all but confirmed that All Elite Wrestling will begin airing a show on national television in October on a major cable network. The WWE Hall of Famer also confirmed that it will be a weekly two-hour broadcast.
The only things he did not confirm were which cable network and which night the show will air on, as well as what date in October the show will premiere.
If you can’t wait until October to hear Jim Ross call AEW action, then tune in to AEW’s Double or Nothing show from Las Vegas on May 25, 2019.
