AEW’s official Instagram account has confirmed that Japanese wrestler Hikaru Shida is the latest addition to its growing women’s roster.
The 30-year old had a very strong year in 2018, with a match against fellow AEW signing and women’s wrestling legend Aja Kong for OZ Academy standing out for its superb storytelling throughout and a gripping climax.
Shida has been a regular for many promotions across the Japanese wrestling scene, including WAVE, Sendai Girls, Ice Ribbon and Diana. In October she even squared off with NOAH legend Naomichi Marufuji in the main event of her own 10 year anniversary show, taking him to the limit before falling to defeat.
Shida joins a growing list of names confirmed for AEW’s women’s roster, which thus far includes:
- Aja Kong
- Allie
- Bea Priestley
- Brandi Rhodes
- Dr. Britt Baker
- Kylie Rae
- Nyla Rose
- Penelope Ford
- Sadie Gibbs
- Yuka Sakazaki
