16-time World Champion John Cena made his WWE return at WrestleMania 35 inside MetLife Stadium, embracing his old “Doctor of Thuganomics” gimmick to interrupt an Elias musical performance.
Whilst Cena is synonymous with WWE, he has been making a name for himself in Hollywood, and Variety is reporting that “big match John” is “in talks” to join the cast of ‘Suicide Squad 2’, a film starring Margot Robbie and Idris Elba which made $746.8 million worldwide at the Box Office in its first iteration. The film is scheduled to begin production towards the end of 2019, and will be released in early-August, 2021. The film will be directed by James Gunn.
This news comes after Cena just recently finished filming another movie entitled ‘Playing With Fire’ which will arrive in theatres on March 20, 2020. Cena is a busy man and has recently agreed to not only star, but play the lead in a film directed by his WrestleMania XXVIII and XXIX opponent The Rock, entitled ‘The Janson Directive’.

With John Cena clearly very busy with his Hollywood career, it is unlikely that we will be seeing him return to WWE as a full-time performer any time soon.
