According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has cancelled plans for a standalone NXT TakeOver show on June 8 in San Jose, with the plan being to reschedule it for a later date.
The reason for this rescheduling is reportedly to make way for WWE’s next Saudi Arabia show, which in my humble opinion is a bit like cancelling the Game of Thrones finale to show an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the current plan is for WWE to return to Saudi Arabia on June 7, and the decision has therefore been taken to move the NXT San Jose show which was set to take place the next night.
Meltzer added that the current plan seems to be to have the show on June 15, the week after the original date, with an announcement expected on this week’s NXT taping.
Main roster show Backlash was also reportedly moved as a result of WWE going to Saudi Arabia, as the company wants to avoid too many big shows in a short period of time.
It’s almost as if these Saudi Arabia shows aren’t worth the hassle.
