Ahead of WWE’s upcoming UK tour, Seth Rollins spoke to the Irish Mirror about a variety of topics including his knee injury that forced him to vacate the WWE Championship in 2015, his Universal Championship match with Finn Balor at the 2016 SummerSlam event, and his ‘relationship’ with “The Man” Becky Lynch.
The Universal Champion was asked how it felt to return to Ireland after tearing his ACL, MCL and Meniscus at a house show there in 2015. He also said he hopes the Irish fans don’t have it in for him after he injured Ireland’s own Finn Balor in their championship match at SummerSlam in 2016:
“I’ve never had any ill-will with the Irish fans, I don’t think, and I hope they’ve never had any ill-will towards me. I’ve always loved the country and when I got hurt they were very respectful and understanding and appreciative. The times I’ve come back to Dublin since then, they’ve been very receptive to me. I hope they don’t hold it against me that I hurt Finn. I didn’t mean to, I promise. He’s back and healthy and doing awesome as the Intercontinental Champion so I think me and the Irish fans are on good terms. I know they’re a stubborn bunch but I think we’re alright.”
The interviewer then asked Rollins about another of WWE’s Irish stars, Becky Lynch. Lynch and Rollins have been pictured together in recent weeks leading to some speculation that the pair are dating. When asked if they were a couple, Rollins remained coy and tried to give very little away:
“I’ll leave that one up to you”.
