If you watched this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, you’ll have seen that former (or perhaps current) Riott Squad member Liv Morgan returned to TV after months on the house show circuit.
Despite losing very quickly to Charlotte Flair in her return match, Liv showed a lot more fire than usual, and grabbed Corey Graves’ microphone after the match to tell fans she would be “back when I’m real”.
It is now being reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the plan is to push Liv and give her a new look and character, presumably to move her away from the Riott Squad gimmick.
Morgan’s promo time, loss to Charlotte and promo after losing about how she’s got to be real is to lead to a new character and a new look.
Dave Meltzer argued that the reason Morgan’s character never worked on WWE is because she was debuted as a heel, when he happy, blue-tongued gimmick is quite clearly better suited to being a babyface.
Morgan is definitely someone that could be a babyface now that she’s no longer being riotous and putting condiments on people’s doors, and a feud with a heel Charlotte Flair would be the perfect way of introducing a new character for Liv on SmackDown Live.
