With AEW only three pay-per-view events into its existence, there are still many questions about how the promotion will operate on a week-to-week basis once its Wednesday night show debuts on TNT in October.
AEW officials have said since day one that the schedule will be easier on the wrestlers and they will get far more down time away from the ring than they would if they were in WWE.
In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has shed some light on what a schedule might look like.
He says the goal is to run between 100 and 120 live events per year, four of which would be pay-per-views and 51 of those television shows.
Meltzer also notes that the plan is to run house shows almost every Saturday and occasionally another house show at another point in the week.
However, the roster will be spread across those shows so not everyone will be wrestling on every event. The report states that top talent will be expected to wrestle around 75 matches in an effort to keep them healthy and able to produce world class matches on a regular basis.
By contrast, some in WWE have wrestled around 100 matches this year already, just over halfway through the year. Baron Corbin has wrestled 100, with The Revival, Kofi Kingston and Ricochet not far behind.
