The first and second Mae Young Classic took place in the summers of 2017 and 2018 respectively. Kairi Sane defeated Shayna Baszler in the 2017 final, with Toni Storm besting Io Shirai at WWE Evolution the following year.
Fans and critics alike expected the tournament to continue for a third year in the summer of 2019, but nothing has been filmed or even announced as of yet.
It was even reported earlier this year that the tournament would be returning this summer, with European wrestlers Wesna and Amale Winchester scheduled to take part.
Speculated was fuelled last month when it was revealed that WWE and Triple H were keen on signing Sari Fujimura, widely regarded as one of the best female performers in the entire world, after meeting wrestling promotes in Japan.
Triple H provided no timeframe for when he expects the third Mae Young Classic to air, or even when WWE expects tapings to begin. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for more information on the matter.
This comes after “The Game” also recently revealed that Cesaro and Drew McIntyre are both “constantly asking” him if they can make appearances in NXT UK.
