Heading into SummerSlam, it looks very much as though WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura would be taking on Ali, after the two started feuding on SmackDown Live.
Coming out of SummerSlam, the feud was completely dropped and nothing more has been said about it.
Ali even defeated Nakamura on SmackDown two weeks before SummerSlam, but again for whatever reason, the two just stopped feuding on TV. They have even continued to have matches at house shows, with Nakamura retaining on each occasion.
On last night’s episode of SmackDown Live, Nakamura aligned himself with Sami Zayn, which would suggest that he’s now heading in a completely different direction than a feud with Ali.
When a fan asked Ali on Twitter whether the feud had just been dropped, he said:
— ALI / Adeel Alam (@AliWWE) August 21, 2019
I mean it gets the point across I suppose.
Ali did actually wrestle last night, although no-one at home will have seen, as it was a pre-SmackDown loss to Samoa Joe, so it’s not even as though he’s being pushed.
There is no word as to why the feud has been dropped, but given the amount of re-writes SmackDown has undergone in recent weeks, it’s fair to assume that it just fell by the wayside.
