Jon Moxley has been stripped of the IWGP United States Championship after being unable to make his scheduled title defence at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s King of Pro Wrestling event. The typhoon in Japan made it impossible for Moxley to make it to the event. Zack Sabre Jr. was also affected by the typhoon and was unable to make it to King of Pro Wrestling.
Jon Moxley was scheduled to defend his championship against former champion Juice Robinson. With Moxley now stripped of the championship the title match at King of Pro Wrestling has been changed to Juice Robinson vs. Lance Archer.
Moxley won the title from Robinson at the Best of the Super Juniors Final in his New Japan debut. Robinson was able to defeat Moxley in the G1 Climax in August to earn the rematch.
He was yet to make his first defence of the title. Because New Japan titles require a title defence every six months, Moxley would be unable to meet that requirement. We will keep you updated on the situation as more details become available.
Moxley is currently scheduled to take on Kenny Omega at AEW’s next pay per view, Full Gear.
