Chad Gable Gets Another New Ring Name

Chad Gable will now be simply referred to as “Shorty G” following last night’s WWE SmackDown.

After picking up a fairly easy win over Curtis Axel of the B-Team last night, Gable – who had been dubbed “Shorty Gable” since WWE Hell in a Cell – cut an inspirational (sort of) promo about overcoming the bullying about his height, and announced his new name.

It was King Corbin who annointed him Shorty Gable at Hell in a Cell on October 6, after he’d already beaten him to win the King of the Ring final.

For those in the know, it seemed like the Shorty G name would be coming into effect soon enough as WWE had applied to trademark the term, and it was reported that it would be for Gable’s new ring name.

Personally, I think Shorty G is far better than Shorty Gable. Did it ever need to be changed from Chad Gable in the first place? No. But I’m keen to see where it goes rather than coming to early conclusions.

Shorty was announced for Hulk Hogan’s WWE Crown Jewel team last night, too. He joins captain Roman Reigns, Ricochet, Rusev and Ali. Team Flair currently stands as captain Randy Orton, King Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Shinsuke Nakamura with one still to be added.
