Last week on Raw, Drew McIntyre was announced as the final member of Ric Flair’s team at Crown Jewel. The former NXT Champion then defeated Ricochet in a cracking match.
On this week’s episode, McIntyre and Ricochet went head-to-head once again in another fairly decent outing.
Before Raw started, fans were rather worried about how the match would play out.
So soon into his return, fans didn’t want to see Drew McIntyre lose. However, they also didn’t want to see Ricochet pinned for the second consecutive week.
However, WWE booked themselves out of the corner by having the match end via DQ after Randy Orton hit Ricochet with an awesome RKO.
Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE decided to book the match for the second consecutive week because their encounter last week was well received.
“The reason they did Ricochet vs Drew McIntyre again was because it was successful. That’s why. They had a good match and they did good ratings. That’s why they wrestled again, that makes sense. That’s why they didn’t have a finish — well they had a finish and it was Randy Orton in St Louis interfering.”
With matches like Drew McIntyre vs. Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo vs. AJ Styles taking place on Raw this week, perhaps WWE is finally listening to its fans and putting out great TV matches.
WrestleTalk.com will have live coverage of the Crown Jewel pay-per-view on Thursday where Drew McIntyre and Ricochet will be in the ring for a ten-man tag team match representing Team Flair and Team Hogan respectively.
