After he returned to the ring on Raw last Monday, there’s a new update on the WWE contract status of Matt Hardy.
PWInsider reports that Hardy’s deal expires in February, not March as was previously believed, meaning he’ll be free to leave then if he chooses not to re-sign.
The report goes into detail stating that while WWE and Hardy aren’t far away in terms of financial considerations, the issue is more with how Matt will be used going forward, and if Monday is anything to go by, it’s not exactly looking promising from Matt’s point of view.
It’s also noted that Hardy is thankful for WWE signing him and brother Jeff back to the company, although it’s clear that his Broken/Woken character wasn’t capitalised on to the extent it could and maybe should have been.
If you haven’t seen, Matt has been uploading “FREE THE DELETE” videos to YouTube recently, which is a case of him planning ahead and keeping his character alive in preparation for if he does leave WWE. You can watch the latest episode here:
Matt’s brother Jeff will very unlikely be joining Matt in leaving in February as he’ll probably have time added onto his contract for both injuries and time he’s had off due to being arrested.
