Chris Jericho and Mike Tyson were involved in the main event segment of this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Jericho said he wanted Tyson’s head and unsurprisingly, a brawl broke out. This was the continuation of an angle that took place on Raw back in 2010.
Some people have criticized AEW for continuing a WWE article but Jericho said otherwise in an interview with ESPN‘s Marc Raimondi. Here is the full quote:
“It’s a WWE angle? It’s a Chris Jericho angle. I was there. I don’t just wash away my entire 19-year history with the WWE. That’s ludicrous. Anybody criticizing that this was a WWE angle and we brought it over here – this is my life. It’s my story.”
Jericho also commented on how they just let Tyson go and be himself on Dynamite.
“I know what to expect. A guy like him, he’s a firecracker, man. He’s a loose cannon as an entertainer, as a performer. You don’t give Mike Tyson a script. You don’t rehearse something with Mike Tyson. You just go out there. He’s going to do whatever the f*ck he wants to do no matter what. And that’s cool. I have 30 years of being in the ring and I can guide that.”
We don’t currently know what the direction is for Jericho and Tyson. Jericho did mention recently that Tyson would be capable of doing a wrestling match so it appears that is a possibility.
