Last night, Randy Orton punted Christian into next week. Or, maybe the massive kick in the head has put Christian on the shelf for the short term in the Orton storyline.
Edge is legitimately injured, but Christian doesn’t appear to actually be injured. The angle obviously was to continue to get Orton over as a massive heel.
It also appears we’re getting a 2020 version of The Legend Killer. So, what do you do when you have one injured legend and another who could have just been written off television?
Who could Orton face next? Well, It’s The Big Show. At least, that seems to be what WWE is teasing.
On Raw Talk last night, Big Show had the following to say:
“I’m not the guy for Randy Orton to talk trash to. I’m not the guy for Randy Orton to step up to. I’m not scared of Randy Orton. I know Randy Orton. I’m not afraid of Randy — Randy better be afraid of me.”
Could Big Show be the next legend to feel the wrath of Orton? It would make a lot of sense. There’s no real money in Orton/Big Show in 2020, but it could sustain a program until Christian can return.
Seeing Christian back in the ring at a pay-per-view would certainly pull in a few nostalgic viewers. It will be interesting to see how WWE uses The Big Show in the near future.
Also, it sure seems like Randy is being set up to eventually go against the WWE Champion, right? Who else on the roster even feels close to that level at the moment?
One thing’s for sure though, he will definitely turn from face to heel and back to face at least 15 times during the feud.
