The second round of the New Japan Cup began today as we get closer to crowning a winner. This show featured four second-round matches with four men moving on to the semi-finals.
The most anticipated match was Kazuchika Okada vs. Yuji Nagata. They had only had one singles match prior to this in their careers. It did not disappoint as Okada managed to knock off the old legend and advance to the next round.
In addition to this, Tomohiro Ishii and Togi Makabe had a hard-hitting brawl. They have had powerful battles in the past, including a fantastic match at Wrestle Kingdom 9. While this match did not quite reach those heights, this was still a very fun fight.
Closing things out are the matches between Taiji Ishimori and Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Hiromu Takahashi vs. Toru Yano. Takahashi and Yano had an unbelievably fun comedy match that is worth seeing. Meanwhile, Ishimori was finally able to knock off Kanemaru.
