There is now a major update regarding the WWE status of Kairi Sane following recent rumours she could be leaving the company.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Kairi Sane is returning to Japan so she can be with her husband, and this is something WWE has known about since May.
The idea before the legitimate injury Sane suffered in a match against Nia Jax was that Sane was going to suffer a ‘career-ending injury’ to write her out of the company, which would have set up whoever inflicted it to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women’s Title at SummerSlam.
However, this plan could have changed now that Paul Heyman is no longer the executive director of Raw. The frontrunners for who would have done it are Charlotte Flair and Shayna Baszler, the former of whom is currently taking time off, and the second of whom has been pulled from TV by Vince McMahon.
Whether it was going to be Flair or Baszler isn’t confirmed, it could have been someone else but they were the most obvious options, but one thing the report noted for sure is that it was not supposed to be Nia Jax.
Sane has been cleared to compete, and is listed for the July 3 tapings (today) for Raw episodes to air July 6 and 13. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any updates.
