Next weekend, WWE is putting on two special events on the WWE Network, with NXT TakeOver: XXX on Saturday evening, and then SummerSlam the following night.
As if that wasn’t enough, WWE is reportedly going to be holding ANOTHER pay-per-view the following week, when they put on Payback on August 30, just seven days after SummerSlam.
It has been reported that the ideas that the WWE creative team has for the TV tapings that are scheduled for today are “changing drastically’, so it’s no surprise the plans for Payback are also a mess.
Ringside News, who have been on the money with some of their backstage scoops in recent months, are reporting that plans for Payback later this month are unsurprisingly “all over the place”.
“Ringside News has learned that plans for Payback are all over the place. Plans are changing on such a rapid basis that by the time we could report a planned match odds are it would change by the time you read it.”
Ringside News founder Steve Carrier took to Twitter to share a message from one of his sources on the matter, who said “who the fuck knows what’s up for Payback?”:
“WWE is still running Payback on Aug 30. There’s a big problem and I’ll let this quote from a source speak for itself: “who the fuck knows what’s up for Payback, it changes three times a day!”
Holding Payback the weekend after SummerSlam is objectively a bad decision. Unless the show is filled with SummerSlam rematches, then building to PPV matches with just one episode of Raw and SmackDown is not enough.
