We now know the real reason why the cinematic match that aired to open last night’s AEW All Out pay-per-view event took place.
The match saw Big Swole and Britt Baker compete in a ‘tooth and nail’ match, supposedly set in Baker’s dentist office.
Dave Meltzer explained the reason the cinematic approach was taken here was because Baker still wasn’t ready to return to the ring following the broken leg she suffered in May. Meltzer said:
“The problem here was that Britt Baker wasn’t ready. She had a broken leg and they thought that she would be ready for the pay-per-view, actually they thought she’d be ready before the pay-per-view, but, you’re never perfect. There’s no 100% when it comes to healing a broken leg, and I’m not sure about her nose. So she wasn’t ready to do a full-on match so they did this to hide, essentially to do the match while hiding the fact that Britt couldn’t do a lot.”

Big Swole was victorious in the match despite Baker’s sidekick Reba/Rebel also getting involved for most of the brawl.
The match was initially set for the pre-show but Tony Khan made the decision to move it to the main show at the request of many fans.
